Trying to make planet-safe choices for your little one can feel overwhelming. With so many labels and claims, where do you even start?
It’s easier than you think! A great first step is to learn what to look for on the packaging. Next time you’re shopping for nappies, wipes, or feeding supplies, keep an eye out for these three simple words:
1️⃣ COMPOSTABLE
This is the best option! It means the product can break down completely into nutrient-rich compost (like plant food!) in a commercial composting facility. It leaves nothing toxic behind.
✅ Best for: Baby wipes, pouches, and tableware.
2️⃣ BIODEGRADABLE
A good step in the right direction. This means the product will break down over time… but that could be months or even hundreds of years! It doesn’t guarantee it’s non-toxic.
✅ Good for: Products where compostable isn’t available.
3️⃣ RECYCLABLE
An old favourite! This means the material can be processed and turned into something new.
✅ Best for: Cardboard packaging, glass baby food jars, and plastic containers (check the number inside the triangle!).
The Simple Takeaway:
When you can, choose compostable! It’s the clearest way to know a product will turn back into earth, not landfill.
And remember – the most sustainable choice is often the product that lasts. That’s why we design our products to be durable, non-toxic, and dishwasher-safe – made for years of use that you can feel good about.
